We hosted the third My Jumpstart to Independence conference on December 10, 2022 and it was a wild success! With over 40 youth in attendance this event featured great conversations, inspiring stories, and lots of collaboration. The youth were lead through an educational experience that covered the foundational skills needed to achieve success in their early adult years. Ed Fed credit union lead an impactful workshop about banking, credit, and budgeting. This conversation prepped the youth to have their very own “Real World Experience” where our young adults would navigate through a simulation in which they created a realistic monthly budget. Field experts assisted the youth as they budgeted their assigned monthly incomes in order to cover all living expenses such as housing, insurance, transportation, and much more! This event created an immersive experience and featured organizations like Sunshine Health, Ed Fed Credit Union, and the Rope Foundation, local organizations that provide services that benefit our attendees. After the conference, local artists like King Hoodie Raps,Teddy B and Pneums held a private concert for our youth. They even inspired some event goers to share their own talents on stage! Overall, this conference was life-changing, you don’t want to miss the next one!
